His breath hangs in the air cold and frightful. The sound of gunfire off in the distance seems to focus his mind. One last ammo check before running out to end more lives. Cut off from the main forces, his job was to infiltrate the main spire in his sector. The hum of his personal cloak sputters, it won’t last much longer he thinks to himself, the charge belt has seen better days. During the last 24 hours, Danny has seen much killing. A lot of those kills breaks the tech guild law, preferring the up-close feel of his short blade, he clears the path with 7 deaths . Made to feel and look like a short sword with the width of a machete called his Phantom blade, drips with blood. The mission was going as planned, some how the creatures of this planet have the ability to drain our tech of all power. The epicenter of the field is strongest here, between the giant rock spires the Altoot call home.
He and the boxing saint were born to run these missions. Use of his secondary weapons and any gadget he has is suspect. The power drain started to affect his bio implants. Turning their power on and off like a child playing with a light switch. this is what he had trained for ever since he considers becoming a saint. The Boxer who mastery of stealth is only dwarfed by his hand to hand combat skills, they had the best chance to enter the facility. Danny's cousin Kennon had told him how important this was. The tech of the Altoot could stop an entire army dead in its tracks, making thing that draws powers inert. And the sheer size and power of An Altoot could crush a man in seconds.
The bombing raids had done their jobs well. The giant orbiting rail cannons used up most of the asteroid belts tiny rocks, sending them raining down on the frontier planet. We knew that this planet had tech we needed and the Altoot themselves would make invaluable asset to the guilds so we had to take this planet. But first we had to find and deactivate the damping fields, so support guild and the A.I. core could move in and do their jobs. The chaos of the bombardment had left the Altoot in disarray, leaving the complex undermanned. All Danny and the Boxer had to do was get in and take down any one in the complex shut down and retrieve any tech relating to the damping fields.
Only problem was no power, communication, Dannie’s left eye and secondary weapons were out. Even the Nano tech that gave him limited healing wore down. The small smile he wore and the boxer’s large laughter show how much they live for this stuff or will mostly likely die for this stuff. They pulled in close to the perimeter of the building. The sounds of exploding meteors, the rail guns have the area encircled keeping out reinforcements. This made it harder to hear as they closed in on their entry point, the real action was about to begin.
Sword sees boxer, they are both within fifty feet of each other. The signal from boxer, a single grenade thrown skyward. It lands perfectly against the only opening on that first level. The boxers favorite new toy sticky concussion grenades, these gems create a wave that can destroy any materials know to the Tech Guild. What really made them special to boxer was his ability to absorb any force and redirect it. The wave destroys the opening on the wall and as the other side of the wave hits boxer, he redirected the blast back at the wall slicing so deep into the spire you can see the whole spires shakes for miles.
As soon as boxer redirects the wave, sword jump from behind him and is in the building faster than the eye can follow. The confusion was so thick, the Altoot can’t tell that the explosion were from the meteors which are destroying there civilization. A spray of orange blood splatters two Altoot. They only see a blade and a flash, that ends their lives. Boxers laugh is loud and distant, as he battles barehanded against creature three time his mass. These are the times when he really shines. Each blow sent his way spit back with three maybe even four times the force sent at him. He lost in the lust of battle.
Meanwhile, sword moves through the spire like structure with little more than a single step from wall to wall. He moves up the walls faster and faster the little gadget in his hand points toward the source of the field. As he moves he kills all in his path. Single slices cuts the top of each head removing the hardest part or the Altoot’s skulls from the tiny group of mussels and sinew that held them together. He trained for two days against fourteen captured Altoot in full V.R. training rooms. Watching how they moved, walked, reacted and fought so this one cut would always hit it mark. Danny moved forward through the spires inner chamber.
He quickly noticed what looked like rock and stone on the outside was made of crystal on the inside. It was like the building was grown from the crystals as a shell. This also explained why when he entered the holes that Boxer made seemed to heal itself, to show no sign of the damage. What could cause such crystal to exist? Boxer wasting no time, after the last Altoot fell from his crushing blows, each blow destroying the brain or heart. Sword lands to find the boxer laughing next to him. Good sport today young one, The Boxer being a full three hundred years older. Sword silent as always, moved closer to what could only be described as a hall of light.
The crystals that coat the inside of the spires flow from a black crystal like water. He could hear Chris in his mind, like he was there, "I want it!" Simple and fast with eyes lit up with joy, whenever his cousin would always say when Danny brought him any new toy from the war. The Boxer screeched “Well any idea what to do now?”. Sword knew what to do! What he always does and with one swift movement its Saint verses the Dark Crystal.
